How many devices can a single LoRaWAN Gateway support simultaneously?

Our gateways are designed to handle thousands of devices efficiently. The 16-channel version can manage up to several thousand sensor messages simultaneously, with each channel supporting hundreds of devices. The actual capacity depends on how frequently your devices transmit data, but for typical warehouse applications with sensors updating every few minutes, a single gateway easily covers facility-wide deployments.

What's the coverage range of the LoRaWAN Gateway, and how does it perform in industrial environments?

LoRaWAN technology can reach up to 10km in open areas, while indoor industrial environments typically achieve 500m-2km coverage per gateway. The signal penetrates walls, metal structures, and shelving much better than WiFi, making it ideal for dense warehouse environments. The actual range depends on building layout, but most facilities can achieve full coverage with 1-3 strategically placed gateways.

How does LoRaWAN differ from WiFi for industrial IoT applications?

LoRaWAN is specifically designed for IoT: it uses less power, covers longer distances, and handles more devices per antenna than WiFi. Your sensors and trackers can run for years on battery power with LoRaWAN, versus weeks or months with WiFi. Additionally, LoRaWAN doesn't interfere with your existing WiFi network, keeping your laptops and scanners running at full speed while supporting hundreds of sensors.

Can I use different frequency bands for international operations?

Yes! Our gateways support all major regional frequencies including EU 863-870MHz, US 902-928MHz, AU 915-928MHz, CN 470-510MHz, and more. This ensures compliance with local regulations wherever you operate. You can easily configure the appropriate frequency band during installation for global deployability.

How secure is the data transmission through the LoRaWAN network?

Security is built into every layer of LoRaWAN communication. All data uses AES-128 encryption, with unique keys for each device. The gateway provides additional security features including VPN support, DMZ configuration, and secure management protocols. Your operational data remains protected from interception or tampering throughout transmission.

Can the gateway integrate with our existing IT infrastructure and cloud services?

Absolutely! The gateway supports standard protocols including MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, and can connect to major cloud platforms. It also features built-in options for OpenVPN, IPsec, and other VPN protocols for secure corporate network integration. API access allows custom integration with your WMS, ERP, or other enterprise systems.

How does maintenance work, and can we perform over-the-air updates?

Maintenance is minimal thanks to the industrial-grade design. Firmware updates can be performed remotely over the network, eliminating the need for site visits. Most updates take just minutes and can be automated.

What happens if our main gateway fails? Do we need redundancy?

We recommend strategic placement of gateways to ensure overlapping coverage. If one gateway fails, nearby gateways typically maintain connectivity for most devices in the area. The system supports automatic failover between gateways, and you can configure multiple gateways for seamless redundancy in critical areas.
